With popularity of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) as a growing sport, many people have the wrong impression of what MMA really is. TV shows portray MMA training as a very brutal activity (which most people think as brawling) only for the young who does not care to be hurt in the process. Mixed Martial Arts is as the name implies - the study of two or more martial arts styles that complement each other to create a well-rounded fighter, whether the fight stays standing or it goes to the ground. The truth is that MMA is a great activity for everyone.

While Mixed Martial Arts was initially practiced almost exclusively by competitive fighters, this is no longer the case. As the sport has become more mainstream and more widely taught, it has become accessible to wider range of practitioners of all ages. Taught properly mixed martial arts is safe for anyone, of any age, with varying levels of competitiveness.

At DAMMA our principal martial art is Gracie Jiu-Jitsu (GJJ). To complement GJJ we also teach Thai Boxing, the most practical and effective striking system. The combination of these two styles will develop you to be a very well rounded martial artist in the minimum amount of time. You will work on all aspects of fitness - cardio, strength, and flexibility. You will also learn the most useful, practical, and effectives techniques both standing, ground, and even surprise attacks. You will learn to adapt and change based on the development of the fight.
